Are my photos uploaded to a server?

No. HEIC Glide is designed to process your selected files inside your browser. Your photos are not sent to our server for conversion.

Can I convert more than one photo?

Yes. Select multiple HEIC or HEIF files at once, or drop them into the converter together. Each JPG can be downloaded when it is ready.

Does it work on iPhone?

Yes. Open HEIC Glide in Safari, choose your photos, and download the converted JPG files. A modern browser with JavaScript is required.

What is a HEIC file?

HEIC is the format iPhones and iPads have used for photos since iOS 11. It is a HEIF container holding an image compressed with the HEVC codec, which stores high-quality photos in roughly half the space of a JPEG. That is excellent for your storage and iCloud bill, and awkward everywhere else: Windows needs an extra extension to read it, and desktop Chrome, Firefox and Edge cannot display it at all.

Your photos stay on your device

HEIC Glide is built so that conversion happens inside your browser instead of on a server. Your photos are not uploaded for conversion, there is no account to create, and no file list is stored. If you would rather not involve a network at all, macOS Preview and sips, or the Windows Photos app with the free HEIF extension, are good offline alternatives.

Common questions

Does converting reduce quality?

JPEG is lossy, so a small amount of detail is discarded. At a high quality setting the difference is not visible in normal photos. Convert once from the original HEIC, and keep the original file.

Can I convert more than one photo at a time?
