Why iPhone photos use the HEIC format
iPhones commonly save photos as HEIC because the format can keep good image quality while using less storage. That is helpful on your phone, but some upload forms, older apps, business systems, and non-Apple devices may still ask for JPG files.
You do not need to replace your original photo. Instead, create a JPG copy when compatibility matters and keep the HEIC original in your Photos library.
Convert HEIC to JPG on iPhone in three steps
1. Open HEIC Glide in Safari
Open the HEIC to JPG converter in Safari. Make sure JavaScript is enabled and use a current version of iOS for the best experience.
2. Choose your HEIC photos
Tap Choose HEIC files. Select one or more photos from your iPhone. If prompted, allow Safari to access the photos you choose.
3. Download the converted JPG
Wait for the conversion to finish, then tap Download. Depending on your Safari settings, the JPG may appear in Downloads or the Files app. You can open, save, or share it from there.
